The main changes in the underlying maps for the v2.3 release of April are:
- The view on the potential of the Rotliegend and Triassic around Jutphaas, south of Utrecht has improved.
In the Jutphaas well both the Rotliegend and Triassic layers occur twice: at shallow depths (between 1290 and 1660 meters) and deeply buried (between 3290 and 2740 meters). In contrast to the deep occurrences, the shallow ones have relatively favourable aquifer properties and therefore potential. ThermoGIS only allows a single potential per aquifer per location. In ThermoGIS v2.2, the deep occurrences and properties were used erroneously. This was corrected in the update. The relevant maps show an improved potential of the Rotliegend and Triassic layers near Utrecht; - The expected geothermal potential of the Rotliegend and the Triassic around Barneveld has improved.
The Barneveld well was drilled through a large fault which offsets both the base of the Rotliegend and the Triassic about 700 meters. Both reservoirs were actually drilled in the higher block (hanging wall). Due to the low spatial resolution of the ThermoGIS grids (1000 meters) the local deep grid depths were combined with the shallow reservoir properties. The well had to be moved slightly to the Northeast to obtain a better fit between the layer model and the well.
Further, various minor changes were made to the Mapviewer:
- Maps are now loading much faster;
- The legend of various maps was improved to improve readability;
- The 'white spots' maps, available for all reservoirs, were renamed to data availability maps. The semi-transparent layout in shades of grey was changed to a better readable colour palette from beige to green. More information on the data availability maps can be found here.
